CT Pistol Permit vs. Florida’s 36-State License

If you live in Connecticut and want to carry a handgun, you need a Connecticut State Pistol Permit. No out-of-state license replaces it.
What the CT permit does not do well is travel. Other states honor a Connecticut permit far less often than they honor a Florida non-resident Concealed Weapon License — the credential people call the “36-state license.”
Most new permit holders consider both: the CT permit for home, the Florida CWL for the road. One class with us can lead to both permits!
What Each Credential Is For
Connecticut Pistol Permit
Required to buy a handgun here and to legally carry in-state. The application fees average $230 with the permit lasting five years before renewal.
Florida Non-Resident Concealed Weapon License
You do not need a Florida address. Unlike the more expensive CT permit, this costs less than $100 to apply, lasts longer (7 yrs. vs. 5), and is currently recognized across 36 states. It does not let you carry in Connecticut. It expands your options for legally possessing while traveling through non-reciprocating states and to legally carry just as you would in Connecticut.
How to Complete the Required Training
Safe and Secure Training offers CT Pistol Permit, CT Non-Resident Pistol Permit, and separate Florida 36-state license classes. We cover the required standards and laws for Connecticut — as well as additional states that we teach and certify students for.
Since we are also authorized to teach the required Florida learning components, we make this option available. You can complete one, either, or both in one session!

Florida is an easy add-on for any of these options below. Just let us know.
Always remember. Laws change. Reciprocity may as well from time to time. This option is considered the best option to legally possess and to lawfully carry when leaving Connecticut. There is much personal responsibility involved when choosing to be armed in public. We offer educational assistance, not legal advice. Before you travel, check the local laws for your destination state. Always ensure you have a plan and method to safely unload and secure all firearms when traveling through any non-reciprocal states.
